Bank hush money? Driver automatically receives JUST £120 car finance compensation from bank despite £1,100 refund news

A furious driver has been left stunned after receiving a measly £120 payout from their bank, despite hearing reports from industry experts stating £1,100 in refunds for mis-sold car finance.

The motorist, who wishes to remain anonymous, was expecting a hefty sum after news broke that lenders across the UK had been ripping off drivers for years with dodgy finance deals.

But instead of a life-changing payout, they received what they describe as “hush money” – a tiny fraction of what many are owed.

Thousands of UK drivers have been overcharged on car finance through hidden commission fees, meaning lenders were pocketing extra cash without telling customers.

While some victims are now getting back over £5,000 on average, others, like this unlucky driver, are being shortchanged.

The driver posted on Facebook:

It’s not the first time a customer felt short-changed from their lender.

Other drivers on the same Facebook group ‘Mis-Sold Car Finance Claims advice, support and news’ also complained about the time it was taking to hear back from their car finance lenders.

Paula Butler via Facebook said: “Had my email admitted I had that added on. it’s been pushed back till next year”.

Lisa Exeter: “Anymore updates with this? I’m still waiting too. They’ve admitted to commission being paid to broker but not heard from them since early last year.”
